CAMP GIVAH SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM

"The Special Ed program at Camp Givah is fantastic! The program is why my children can go to camp. They need the support and they get what they need!"
Our special needs program, now in its tenth year thanks to the support of the United Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York, allows campers who need extra support to experience the joy of camp . Enrolling your camper in our special needs program begins with a conversation about who your child is and how we can help them succeed at Givah.
  1. Please reach out to KB Goodkin at campgivahdirector@gmail.com by April 1, 2023 to share the needs of your child.
  2. Following April 1st, factors including staffing and numbers of campers with special needs will be taken into consideration in order to assess camp support.
  3. As soon as possible following the April 1st deadline, camp administration will follow up with families interested in support at camp.
At Camp Givah our top priorities are always safety and fun. We look forward to the opportunity to have your campers spend their summer with us!
Jewish Family Services of Northeastern New York (JFSNENY) offers free, short-term individual counseling sessions and support to Temple Israel’s Camp Givah’s campers during regular program hours. JFSNENY provides support to anyone regardless of religion, ethnic background or economic status. Counseling services during camp hours are short-term support for typical camper
needs. If additional services or support are needed, JFSNENY can provide referrals upon request. Additional counseling services are available through JFS during non-camp hours, but there are fees. Please contact us for rates and for more information on accepted insurances, or visit www.jfsneny.org/counseling. All services are confidential, however, as mandated reporters, JFSNENY is required by law to disclose if a child is being neglected, abused, or shares plans of harming themselves or others. This is an optional service, and services may be terminated by the legal guardian at any time.

If you would like your child(ren) to participate, please contact Hayley Humiston, JFS Clinical Intern, and JFS will send you directions for completing the required documentation.
