meet the directors
Camp Givah is led by our Camp Director, Dan Scher, and our Assistant Director, Rachael Woren. Both joined our staff in 2012 to head up the reopening of Givah – bringing a renewed vibrancy and leadership to the Givah experience. Together, Dan’s and Rachael’s enthusiasm and creativity bring an exciting dimension to the Jewish camping experience.
Dan has a long history with Givah, serving as director for six seasons, and as a counselor for six summers. With certifications in Elementary, Middle School and Special Education, he is currently a 4th grade teacher in East Greenbush. He met his wife, Aliza, at Camp Givah.
Rachael was born and raised in the Capital Region and has many years of experience as a Jewish day camp counselor at the Albany JCC. She earned her Masters from Brandeis University in Hebrew Education and serves as administrative assistant at the Hebrew Academy.
